Coordonnées de l’organisme Retour     Osler Library of the history of medecine Sommaire : The Library maintains a specialised research collection in all aspects of the history of medicine, the core of which is the collection of Sir William Osler (1849-1919). The Osler Library also contains extensive archival fonds and collections (about 900 accessions) of physicians, medical researchers, and institutions (for example, the Montreal Medico-Chirurgical Society) connected with McGill University. The collection includes numerous letters, papers, manuscripts and photographs of Sir Williams Osler and of some of his circle (for example, Maude Abbott and W.W. Francis) as well as the papers assembled by Harvey Cushing during the writing of his "Life of Sir Williams Osler", 1925. Other important Canadian medical fonds include C.K Russell, W. H. Drummond and Norman Bethune materials and the late Dr. E.H. Bensley's working files, as well as the archives of the Health Sciences Library (Canada's oldest medical library). The collections provide a resource for students of the history of Canadian, particularly Quebec medicine, and are added to on a regular basis by donation. The inclusive dates for the fonds are c. 1700 to the present.
